Thesaurus Thursday: "Flibbertigibbet."

While "flibbertigibbet" has become slang for a gossip or chatterbox, it originated as a Middle English word for a flighty or whimsical person- usually a young woman- hence its use in the song "Maria" in The Sound of Music.
